For sale: Technics SL-1210 MK2

Faskil | May 12, 2008

I’m selling my turntables, two Technics SL-1210 MK2 in mint condition. Here’s a brief summary for those who are not familiar with those bad boys:

The industry standard. You’ll find this turntable in the majority of clubs around the world, and with good reason. This deck was the first to feature a Direct Drive motor, quartz movement for total accuracy, adjustable tone arm weights, anti-skate control, a pop-up target light and a sliding pitch control.

  • Vibration Resistant Construction
A die-cast aluminum body, heavy rubber base, and a lack of unnecessary components or empty space allow the 1210MK2 to absorb unwanted vibrations that could otherwise interfere with the sound.
  • Ultra-Low-Speed Motor / Super-High Torque
The 1210MK2’s ultra-low-speed motor and high torque (1.5kg/cm) allow for super quick start-ups (0.7 sec) and stops.
  • Quartz Locked Pitch Adjustment
Allows for accurate quartz-locked pitch adjustments throughout its 16 percent (+/-8) range.
  • Total Direct-Drive Accuracy
Instead of just spinning the platter, the classic Technics Direct-Drive system actually incorporates it into the motor, reducing the number of parts that can malfunction and making consistent, accurate speeds possible. It’s a system that has been providing fast start-up times and unequalled responsiveness for over thirty years. Wow & flutter 0.01% WRMS, rumble -78dB.

More information here: www.spankrecords.com.au.

I’m asking 650 € for the two decks (that’s 325 € each). Feel free to contact me if you’re interested.

A sad day

Faskil | April 25, 2008

It is a very sad day for the electronic music community. Human Adams, 24, bright and beloved producer, has passed away. I was introduced to his music a few months ago through my friend Pole Folder and became an instant fan. I don’t really know what else to say… All my thoughts are with his friends and family. He will be missed.

Taken from www.protonradio.com
04/23 RIP Human Adams

It is a horrible day when we lose a member of our family, and I am extremely sad to inform our listeners that Human Adams has passed away this week. Human was a bright up & coming producer that had released music on many labels friends to Proton: Groove Collection, Morrison Recordings, and Existence.

The news came to me on the day we released his remix of “Mona Kea” by Pole Folder on our own label, Proton Music. His family contacted us with no further details, only to confirm his passing. I do not have any further details to share with you, and the family has requested privacy in the matter.

In my brief conversations with Human I felt a lot of passion and energy towards making music. I think he had a bright future ahead of him. He was extremely gung-ho about the Pole Folder release and would check in with me numerous times on the latest updates and progress towards release. He sent me upcoming demos and expressed interest in becoming more involved. He will be missed, and I hope some of you can take a moment to listen to his music and think of him.

Proton has contacted Beatport and they’ve helped us set Human’s remix of “Mona Kea” as a free download. If you would like download his release you’re now able to do so at no cost. Here is the link.

RIP, friend.

Selected tracks

Faskil | April 7, 2008

For my French-speaking friends who read this blog, some news regarding the birth of Morceau Choisi v2.0, a brand new revamped version of my music-oriented news website.

Thanks to everybody who contributed and who’ll contribute in the future as well. As you’ll see, the website is still a bit empty at the moment, but we’re working hard to put some fresh content in it as soon as possible.

Stay tuned!

This is the new shit!

Faskil | April 5, 2008

I’ve been struggling for a while now with whether or not I should completely re-design this website. Well indecision is no longer an option. While I was trying to upgrade from the previous site to the new Wordpress 2.5 engine, I accidentally wiped out the whole thing. Oops.

So now you have it… The brand new (almost empty) website. Woot.

It still lacks a lot of things but I’m in the process of migrating the old stuff over here. Hopefully this should be over before 2039.

I hope you’ll enjoy the new look! Feel free to post your comments!

Oh and if you don’t have a clue about who I am, take a quick look at the bio in the top menu. It sums it up pretty nicely.
